Our key to successful weight management is about changing the way we behave - breaking the bad eating habits that cause us to look at food as an enemy, to constantly worry about what we eat, to feel bad about ourselves for eating, and replacing them with something more constructive. This understanding is what is missing from most of the diets that people keep trying and failing with. Many diets tell people what to eat to lose weight, but they do not help deal with the habits that make those diets so hard to follow.
The Jenny Craig Program understands that weight management is about wellbeing: it's about health, energy, self-esteem, confidence and getting the most out of life. It doesn't rely on willpower alone to make it work, because most dieters already know that good intentions and willpower just aren't enough. In todays world, with easy access to such a delicious variety of food, virtually any time and anywhere, all the other reasons for eating kick in: sensory pleasure, sharing, relief of boredom, stress, to avoid doing something else we don't want to do, or just to lift our mood. Humans as a species are hard-wired to eat when food is available, so just eating for pleasure would be reasonenough to explain why we eat as much as we do.
