Casey Donovan rose to fame as the winner of Australian Idol in 2004 and has since made her mark on stage and screen across the country as a singer, songwriter, actress and author.
We checked in with Casey a couple of months into her weight loss journey with Jenny Craig.
Tell us about yourself
I love to sing, act, dance and sometimes think I’m a comedian…Some might say a “triple threat” But I like to say a “triple treat” hahaha. I did a stint in the jungle I ate some things that not many people would eat in their daily life. I love to try new things and I’m a big believer in “everything happens for a reason”.
When I get time off, I love to sleep and get lots of rest and I love to walk by the ocean and really just enjoy my time off. It’s few and far between when I get it so when I do, I unplug and just relax.
Tell Us About Your Motivation for Partnering with Jenny Craig?
It’s been a long time coming and wanting to feel like I’m the healthiest version of myself is a big motivation. I’ve been trying to be the best version of myself for almost 34 years.
With Jenny Craig, I am slowly getting closer to that goal. Learning about how to nourish my body and achieve being the best possible version of me.
I’ve tried everything to get fit and healthy and keep the weight off. There were moments before Jenny Craig where it was going really, really well and then life happened and you know things happen and you’re just like “Oh God, I’ll start again next week”.
Before Jenny Craig, it was all a bit of trial and error. I’ve tried all of the things from keto to fasting, to putting on all restrictions then crumbling and falling down in binge cycles. I was trying to do everything and not really getting too far ahead, or just having to start over and not fully understanding what it was to lead a happy healthier life.
Why Did You Choose Jenny Craig for Your Weight Loss Journey?
I wanted a lifestyle change and not a quick fix “diet”. I always wondered what Jenny Craig was about and now that I’m a part of it, it’s ridiculously simple.
Jenny Craig has the tools and support network to make you feel supported and educated about food, lifestyle, calories and all of the things that have been blurred over the years. The food is delicious. And you have an amazing support network around you. That gives you the tools for life.

What Does A Typical Day on Jenny Craig Look Like for You?
Jenny Craig’s food is amazing. It is tasty, delicious, all of the things, filling! I’m a very fussy eater, so talking with my coach and saying, “Hey, I don’t really like this. Can we substitute that?” is great!
A typical day is made up of three main meals including two pieces of fruit and lots and lots of yummy salads and veggies (that’s the only thing you have to prep, or you can grab a quick pre-made salad too). It fits great into my busy lifestyle and is more than manageable – it’s really ridiculously simple!
How Have You Found the Support from Your Jenny Craig Coach?
The support from the Jenny Craig team has been nothing short of amazing! My coach, Angela, and the whole extended team have been fantastic! It really makes a difference having that support and knowing you’re not alone. They’re always there if I have any questions about the meals and snacks.
On a personal level they also check in as to how I’m feeling and coping and what roadblocks or work commitments I have going on. I find it so easy to talk through anything and everything with the team.
I have an amazing super coach with Jenny Craig. Angela has helped me through some of the best times and some of the roughest times on my journey. I’ve been doing eight shows a week in a musical and when it comes to finding energy and how to pace out my food she has been there at the push of a button to say, “hey Case, here’s what you can do”.
We catch up twice a week, we talk through what’s happened through the week and what’s coming up so that we can prepare; whether that’s going out to dinner or pacing my meals and how to manage it.
How Have You Found the program for your busy lifestyle?
Honestly, it has been great! It has fit my lifestyle so well and I can’t say it enough, it really has been so easy to follow and has taken the thinking out of mealtime!
Being in the entertainment industry I’m a shift worker so I don’t work nine to five, so my coach tailored my program to work perfectly for me whether that’s flying in, flying out or just having a day off. They’ve been absolutely amazing!
What Would You Say to Those Thinking About Starting Jenny Craig?
It’s okay to ask for help. Sometimes there are things in this world we can’t do on our own. I want to live a happy, healthy life and be more educated in what goes in my body, and Jenny Craig has helped me so much with that in just a short amount of time. It certainly isn’t a quick fix, it’s a lifestyle change.
Yes, it can be scary, but what have you got to lose? We only have one body to get us through this life. Start the healthiest days of your life now and enjoy the benefits of being your best self!
