Nine months after losing 11kg with the help of Jenny Craig, our Ambassador Hannah Ferrier reflects on her journey.

 

You reached your weight loss goal 9 months ago and have maintained since then. What’s your secret?

Oh my gosh!!! Has it really been that long?!!! Time flies when you are chasing a 2-year-old 😂😂

I took my weight loss with Jenny Craig very seriously as I was determined to lose my weight. So the first 3 months, I followed the program and the advice of my coach to a tee!

I won’t say that always saying no to dessert and never reaching for the French cheese was easy, but like I said – I was very determined!

During those 3 months, I lost 85% of the weight I wanted to lose and having my weigh-in every week kept me on track and feeling motivated!  After that, I had an honest chat with my coach about my lifestyle and what my goals were moving forward, and we came up with a new plan!

I started incorporating Jenny Craig snacks into my diet and was so surprised with how delicious they were, and how a cookie or a bag of veggie chips could keep those cravings for naughty food at bay! 

 

I also picked up so many good habits during those 3 months – about balance and everything in moderation! So once I started incorporating everyday food into my diet, I knew about portion control and the best ways to ensure I didn’t over eat. 

 

Since losing 11kg, how have you found maintaining your weight with the help of Jenny Craig?

I found it surprisingly easy! The coaches have years of training and never make you feel bad when you have a slip-up, or maybe an extra glass of wine. I found being completely honest with my coach so easy, so I felt like I was never judged! 

 

What skills did your coach teach you that you’ve been able to take with you and use in your everyday life since reaching your goal?

PORTION CONTROL!!! I don’t think I realised how easy it was to over-eat before Jenny Craig! Quite often, I was putting 35% more food on my plate than necessary and not allowing my body to feel satisfied before eating more.

 

What did you learn about yourself while on your weight loss journey?

The biggest lesson I learnt was that it’s safe to trust the experts! At the end of the day, we don’t know what we don’t know so learning about my body and how much food it needs, and the best foods for my body was really a lifelong lesson.

 

What is your favourite thing about being a part the Jenny Craig family?

I was genuinely so surprised by how understanding the coaches are. We are all human and we all make mistakes. No one’s lifestyle is the same as the next person, so having that 1:1 support was imperative on my journey. 

 

How often do you check in with your coach now you’re on maintenance?

I still check in with my coach every 2 weeks, but my weight has stayed the same. So normally it’s just a quick chat to ensure I’m still comfortable with what I’m doing, with my eating and exercising. 

 

What advice would you give people who are nearing their weight loss goal and about maintaining it long term?

My main advice is to keep it at the front of your mind! There’s no need to be counting every calorie intake, but always check in with yourself that you are happy with the position you are in. Something that also helped me was fitting into my old clothes and genuinely feeling comfortable in my skin again. 

 

How has Jenny Craig changed the way you prepare meals at home?

I have found that since using Jenny Craig I am getting a lot more enjoyment from cooking! I am using a lot more colour in my food and getting genuine pleasure from spending time preparing a meal at the end of the day. 

 

Looking back on your journey, did you accomplish what you set out to?

I feel like I actually accomplished more then what I set out to do. I set out to lose my baby weight, and instead I changed my relationship with food all together.

 

I learnt skills that will help me for the rest of my life, and for that I couldn’t be happier with the Jenny Craig program.

 

What’s in store for the next 6 months for you?

I want to continue feeling amazing in my body. Especially with winter around the corner, I want to ensure my eating habits stay the way they are, and that I can enter next Summer feeling as amazing as I did this Summer!
