My marriage had failed. I was suddenly a single mother and I had lost my job as my ex-husband was my boss. My Aunty, Uncle and Step Father passed away all within a short period of time. I shifted house and like my life, my eating was out of control. Being overweight made everything difficult, even the simple things like shaving, putting on socks or trimming toenails was hard. I was once asked if I was pregnant. I replied “no just fat” and the person suggested I go on a diet. I knew it wasn’t healthy but I just didn’t care. My BMI was 44.3 (now 27.2) and I was a size 26 (now 14). Although I pretended to be fine I was extremely sad and unhappy.

I don’t know if there was a specific ‘aha’ moment. I really disliked the photo of myself on Santa’s lap although it was another 12 months after that was taken that I decided to join Jenny Craig. There were no photos of me at my biggest as I would always avoid having my photo taken.

My weight loss journey was a process of healing, self-discovery and self-acceptance. I wanted to be the best version of myself. I also felt it was very important to set a good example for my teenage daughter. To be a role model of healthy eating, physical and mental strength and to show her the importance of good nutrition and exercise.

The Jenny Craig Program was easy. I just needed to eat the meals and drink plenty of water throughout the day. The food was definitely enjoyable and the variety was amazing. Carol my Consultant was kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and supportive. The staff at Cranbourne were all welcoming, caring and professional in every way. It was the best investment I have ever made and I never felt deprived/hungry or that is was even on a ‘diet’. I was also extremely grateful for the support from my mum, daughter and friend.

2016 was all about weight loss for me (I lost a lot of bags of oranges). My 2017 focus is on daily exercise and finding time to care for myself both physically and mentally.

I have started participating in fun runs/walks, enjoy going to my local gym and look forward to discovering some group classes. I also look forward to finding walking tracks and a future filled with physical activity.

I am enjoying wearing dresses and jeans and shopping at regular stores. I am feeling good about myself and my future is going to me amazing.
