Weight Loss: 32kg
Tell us a bit about yourself and what life was like before you joined Jenny Craig:
My life before Jenny Craig was dangerous. All I was doing was sitting on the couch, eating at least two bags of chips, drinking several bottles of fizzy drinks a day, and just watching life pass by. I remember thinking that I was happy with how I was living, but looking back, I realise it was self-destructive. No 20-year-old should ever be like that.
Why did you decide to join Jenny Craig?
When I hit 120kg, I knew that I had to put a stop to what I was doing. I decided to initially ask my friends for help who then invited me to come along to the gym with them. The day after I asked my friends for help the COVID-19 lockdown came into effect. After I saw on TV that the Government had announced a stimulus payment and a coronavirus supplement for the jobseeker payment, I then considered getting on board with Jenny Craig. I received my first COVID-19 supplement payment on 1st May and made an appointment on 4th may to coincide with my birthday.
Can you describe your experience on the Jenny Craig program?
My experience with Jenny Craig has really taught me a lot about myself. Before I had gained all the weight, I spent so much time wishing I was thinner. But when I was at my heaviest, I just wished to get back down to the body I had once thought needed to be thinner. Jenny Craig has taught me to not take life for granted anymore, and to love myself and my body instead of consistently searching for the negatives within myself.
Do you have any favourite items from the Jenny Craig menu?
My personal favourite food items were the Chicken Fettucine, Beef Lasange and the BBQ bites. I loved a lot of the food items that were on the menu, but these thee were my favourite for sure!
Tell us about your Jenny Craig Consultant?
Janey was an amazing Consultant; she is very kind and open. She was very much like my rock throughout my experience with Jenny Craig. Every time I lost weight, whether it was 1kg or 100grams, she consistently praised my efforts while encouraging me to continue. Plus, she was an amazing lady to just have a chat to when things weren’t doing well.
How do you feel now that you’ve lost the weight?
I feel amazing! There is a newfound confidence that I’ve found during this experience and I love it, I’ve never felt like this before. I now refer to my weight gain as my “hibernation period”, and I am glad that period is over and that I have got my life back again. My main goal at the moment is to now maintain my weight. People think losing weight is hard, and they’d be right, but the maintaining is, and always will be the hardest part. From here on out, the temptation will forever follow you from your house, to the supermarket, to a house party, to a petrol station and anywhere you go.
Do you have a standout moment on the Jenny Craig program you’d like to share?
I wont ever forget how proud of myself I was after I had reached my goal of 89kg. It was something I had wanted for nearly two years, and I had finally achieved that. I felt like I wanted to go to the top of Mt Wellington in Hobart and sing “I’m back!”, people nearly didn’t recognize me when I went out to show off my weight loss, I was told that I looked like a different person.start your journey now
