Why do you think one on one support is important for weight loss?

I think support in weight loss is really important, you need someone to prop you up sometimes, to give you a little bit of encouragement. Sometimes it’s just hard to do things by yourself so somebody encouraging you and supporting you along the way helps you and you can achieve a lot more with that one-on-one consult and support each week.

We really focus on motivation and encouragement and that constant support. I think week to week you need to see that person who is going to support you, I think it is really good for accountability as well, to keep you on track. Just because you’ve had one bad week, doesn’t mean that you’re not going to hit your goal, it just means what could we do a little bit better in the following week.

What should someone expect for their first Jenny Craig appointment?

When members come in on their first visit to the centre, we go through their own personal goals, and what they’re expecting and what they’d like to achieve out of the whole experience. We tell them a little bit about how the program works and we go through different menu options, different program options that suit individual needs. We just try to get the best fit.

I think it’s a little bit scary for members to come into the centre for the first time. They are a little bit apprehensive, they don’t know how things work. They might not be feeling great about themselves and from my point of view I get excited when I see someone new, it’s a new challenge, it’s a new journey for somebody and it’s exciting!

What’s the most rewarding thing about your job?

The most rewarding thing about my job is I really love seeing people get to their goal weight. I’ve seen amazing people completely transform their lives, they’ve become more social, happier and confident. They’re living the life that always should have been, so it’s just so lovely, you know they are happy, confident people and I’m so proud to be a part of that and to help somebody in some small way.
