Weight loss: 28kg
What was life like before you joined Jenny Craig?
I was very lethargic before Jenny Craig, very unmotivated. Just going day by day not really planning ahead. I didn’t want to do anything, I just wanted to be in my own company in the comfort of my own house.
Why did you choose Jenny Craig?
My Mum was joining up for the program, so I thought I’d do it with her. If she wasn’t signing up I probably wouldn’t have, I thought I was just always going to be a bigger person.
My mum had done Jenny Craig in the past and had had success with it, and after talking to the store manager at the Warrnambool centre about how the program worked and what it was about, I knew it was right for me.
What’s the best thing about being on Jenny Craig?
It’s very methodical and makes it hard to make mistakes, if you just follow the menu to a tee you’ll be fine and it will work. The best thing would be the convenience and not having to cook. I don’t enjoy picking things for tea every night, but with Jenny Craig it’s so easy you don’t even have to think about it, you just grab our food and heat it up and you’re right to go.
How did Jenny Craig fit into your life and shift work as a nurse?
Working shift work, the food has been very easy. I’m able to plan my day with the Jenny Craig menu work in foods that work with my shift. So, if I’m working a morning shift, I’ll have the breakfast bar for brekkie rather than a cereal because I can eat it on the go. same with dinners, if I’m working a morning shift, I’ll have something for dinner that I know is going to be a little bit more filling that I like to have veggies with something to get me through the day that I’ll look forward too.
It was easy to take my Jenny Craig food to work because I was able to just pop it into my bag, put it in the freezer. Initially, I was a little bit self-conscious, I knew that people would see it talk but as I’ve started to know the weight loss it was something that I was actually proud for them to see, and I wanted them to see it because I knew that it could help them as well.
Tell us about life today
Life today is completely different, I’m still getting to know myself and you know what I enjoy now is completely different to what it was. I’m more active, I’m going to the gym, and that started as soon as I started to lose the weight. You know I didn’t have to go to the gym to lose weight, but I wanted to, and I wanted to be more active because I had this new source of energy.
My experience with Jenny Craig has brought so many emotions, all of them being positive. I’d wish I’d done it sooner; it’s been easy. Life-changing.
And what does your Mum think about your weight loss?
She’s very inspired, very proud of me. Mum’s also lost 20 kilos on the program so we’re both incredibly proud of each other and thankful to be able to have done this journey together. Mum and I have found it hard to get used to seeing each other after having lost so much weight. Mum’s also lost 20 kilos on the program, which I’m so proud of her for. The rest of my family have been shocked, amazed, can’t believe how quickly I’ve lost the weight.
What would you say to others who want to lose weight?
Just do it, make the first step, make the appointment. You know commit to weight loss it’s achievable you don’t need to feel miserable, you don’t need to be worried about being overweight. You can lose weight without worrying about going without.
I don’t think it matters how old you are or what you do for work or what your life involves. I think that Jenny Craig can be suited to everyone. I wish I’d done it sooner!
